Suing for deposit - does it matter where the court is?

Hi all,
I will be taking action against my landlord early next week and I was just wondering whether I had to file at the court local to him, or local to me? It was a house I lived in at university and so it would be preferable for me to claim here and not there. Is there anything preventing me from doing this?
Thanks!

Actor sequitor forum rei. The plaintiff must follow the forum of the thing in dispute. You can sue either in the court where the landlord lives, or in the court where the house was. If you can't find the landlord, or he lives abroad, sue in the court where the house was.
You can download the court forms online from the relevant courts service.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Thank you. Looks like I'll be taking a trip then. I've tried downloading the N208 form and printing it out but it just comes out with big black boxes all over it, so I'll just have to get one from the court.0 -
once the court has accepted the case you can always ask for it to be tranferred to your local court .. they may say yes.. they may say no0
