Help with Debt Recovery & Litigation Services (HFC Loan)

Hi! I took out a loan with HFC a few years ago when I was working. Recently I've had to give up work to care for my Dad. My income is reduced and I've been paying a reduced amount to DRLS. It was more than I could afford but I got 'scared' into making the payments after buckling in a phone call from them - I paid then at the expence of my other committments. I took action and got a statement through CCCS and sent it off. They have written back to me and told me that they have recieved two different version of my income/expenditure sheet and according to them I have a surpluss of £50 a month instead of the £5 I actually have. I don't understand where they are getting this information from! I called and asked and the lady I spoke says that according to the one statement they have I have this £50 avalable. They've rejected my offer of £1 a month. I really don't understand this as I sent then just one statement prepared by CCCS! They only other budget statement I send was about 18 months ago when my circumstances were different anyway.
Really not sure what to do. They haven't really explained the sources of the apparently conflicting information and don't seem willing to explain.
What do I do? I have a couple of default notices on my credit history anyway so would a CCJ make much difference? The way things are going for me I doubt I'll ever be sucessful enough to go for a mortgage or anything again anyway. I feel anxious at having to deal with them trying to get to the bottom of this but on the other hand I feel angry that there appears to be some kind of error.
I will try and call CCCS bu they're not available until Monday and having got the letter today I just know I'm going to have this anxious feeling all weekend.
Thanks in advance.

The best thing is to call CCCS on Monday:o
or post on their thread on here (probably won't answer till Monday anyway:o
If you are paying what you can afford and this is agreed with CCCS, there is not much else you can do for now
I wouldn't let it worry you :A
PS
Don't ever talk to DRLS on the phone:cool:
if they call just give them your CCCS ref number

Agree with Monkey.
Not sure if you will be aware or not, but DRLS are in house collectos for HFC, not an actual DCA.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

no idea what my nerdnumber is - i am now officially nerd 229, no idea on my debt free date0 -
Hi guys. Many thanks for the advice. Spoke to CCCS this morning and they advised me that I should just keep making th token payments for now. When I send them my next payment I'll enclose another copy of my income/expenditure sheet to clarify or confirm my current situation.
I've just got to contend with the phone calls now! Also they keep mentioning that someone will call on me to discuss the debt. I remember reading somewhere that there are letters you can send to stop the phone calls and stop the DCA from visiting. Does this apply to an in-house collection agency such as DRLS? If so could someone point me in the right direction?
Also at this stage assuming they're not happy with the arrangement - how long from now would a CCJ take to come through?
Thanks in advance.0 -

Alex - Have a read of the section on bailiffs and debt collectors http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1837507
There is a letter that you can send to get them to stop calls. I don't think that you can stop the DCA calling round BUT Debt Collectors have no legal powers do you can just close the door on them if/when they turn up. Do not be intimidated by them, just tell them you will only correspond in writing.0 -

Hi guys! Many thanks for the info. Hopefully I'll not need to use it! Actually had a call from them today and I just gave them the CCCS client number and the lady said that they would not call me again! I didn't want to get into a conversation but I take that to mean they'll be passing my account on to a 'proper' debt collector or preparing for a Court Claim.0

Further to my last post, the account has been passed on to Moorcroft. Presumably I just send them the same letter, CCCS budget sheet and list of creditors that I sent to DLRS?
Also any advice on what Moorcroft are like to deal with? Would a CCA request do much to influence them?
Thanks in advance.0 -
Let CCCS know that the debt has been sold on
They will send the the info (I think)
Moorcroft are not really any any different to any of the scummy DCA's
don't ever get into a phone conversation with them (they are trained bullies)
just give them your CCCS ref number if they phone and hang up:cool:PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869

Hi! Just wanted to get some opinions. It's about 2 weeks since I responded to Moorcroft with my CCCS information. In that time I've also sent them my token payment for July.
The thing is that, so far, I haven't heard a single thing during the last 2 weeks. No phone calls (touch wood!) and nothing in the post.
Just wondered if this meant they were preparing court proceedings or whether they just drag their heels when they realise they can't get blood from a stone?
Any opinions would be most welcome.0
