HI, while my hubby's got this fracture he's not able to trim the hedge.
(I think it's going to take ages to heal as he's had plates/screws fitted)

When we bought the trimmer, we got the biggest size we could so he could do it quicker. Only problem is, it's too heavy for me, and the job is too big for me really anyway as I'm just too small.
So I need about 35 feet of hawthorn hedge trimming back and don't know how much it's likely to cost if anyone has any idea? Thanks.

It depends on how tall, long and whether it's been well maintained in the past.

A neighbour got quotes of £15 - 20 per hour plus VAT. We live in the northwest. Her hedge is about 8 feet tall and goes along two sides of her property. I think she paid about £60 eventually and it was a very nice, professional job.

It would have been more costly if the men had had to use platforms.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you. It's been kept well, it's just getting a bit straggly. It's about 5 feet tall.

You shouldn't really trim hedges or the like until August anyway; due to nesting wildlife....

We don't usually cut much off it as we have about a hundred sparrows, plus the usual blackbirds and pigeons etc. But as it's a perimeter hedge, the outside needs a trim to stop the thorns hurting anyone as they walk past?
The birds aren't a bit scared of us, in fact they'll divebomb us if we haven't fed them at the right time each day :)
