Burst pipe in rented accomodation

Hi All
Moved into a new flat a week ago.. absolutely no problems till this morning. no hot water... Letting agency who manages the property called a plumber who fixed it. Result.
After plumber goes, I heard a spraying noise.. Go outside and a pipe leading into my property has burst, spraying a jet stream of water everywhere!!! Grrr
Not sure if it only started when the plumber left or if it was before... I'm now sat waiting for the plumber to come back.
Though this isn't the landlords fault of course, is he legally obliged to somehow pay towards the water bill? based on the fact I have no idea how long it's been going I have no idea how huge my water bill may be due to this burst......
Any advice is much appreciated
Edit: Plumber just called and said he won't be at mine till 3pm.... So the pipes going to be spraying water for another 3 hours.. great

Know where the stop tap is?
Got a number for the landlord?0 -
if you was on a meter the readings should have been took when you moved in, if your not on a meter you have nothing to worry about.0

I have no idea where it is.. I think it's in an outside shed bit though the Landlord hasn't given me a key for it yet (waiting)....

i would just wait and see after its been repaired take a reading and find out how much water has been used, if its a lot i would just tell the landlord due to faulty pipework in his house you have used a lot of water and ask him to pay towards it.0 -
Ask the neighbours where their stop tap is *yours will be somewhere similar. Contact landlord urgently. by phone and then in writing if you can't get hold of them0

Thanks all
Plumbers come and fixing it. Spoke to a lovely lady who works at the agency and she said once it's fixed they'll have a look and make sure it's taken care of...! Me worrying for nothing!
Had enough trouble with AWFUL landlords in the past.. Its great having a letting agency manage the property as it seems they sort everything out well![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
