Electronic Verification Failure

I want to open a Sainsburys saving account and then have written to me saying they have been unable to electronically verify my ID. WHY? I have other savings accounts and they have successfully verified me!

Sainsburys now want me to send ID and they want the ORIGINALS of my driving licence or my passport. I am extremely unwilling to consign the originals to the post.

    Then you can't open a sainsbury's savings account.

    I personally would never send them an original of my passport or driving license in the post as while I would send it to them registered delivery there is no guarantee they would do the same to you.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

    (If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

    Take them into a Halifax branch instead, along with the letter from Sainsbury's and the pre-paid envelope. They'll probably take a photocopy for you and send it off.

    Yes, all their financial products are.

    Halifax have nothing to do with the bread and milk side of things though!
