I am a stupid money waster!

Please don't laugh or think I'm freakily stupid but I've just realised something which could save me a bit of money each month. Stop having acrylic nails! I've been looking at my budget for areas to cut back totally ignoring this one thing. How stupid am I? I've got so use to having them, I suppose I forgot!

Bet you think I'm vain now too!

Well anyway, I've got an appointment a week on Saturday which I will change and have them off.

Doh!

You're not stupid. ;) It's amazing how many people complain about being in debt and yet they spend 40-odd quid on sky!
  • You are NOT stupid. You are very clever.

You realised where you were spending money unnecessarily, have realised it is unnecessary and you are proactively doing something about it.

Not the actions of a stupid person at all! :)
  • There is no such statement as 'I am a stupid money waster!' on here. The closest thing to it is 'I have been a mis-guided money spender, but I've found MSE and now I'm smart!' :)
Eek! Someone's stolen my signature!

If everyone was perfect, then they could never be any money saved, as everything would be at its optimum level. You are now "new and improved" - don't go looking for the downside of that. ;)

If you were too vain, you wouldn't ever consider them for the chop.

Do you get any other beauty treatments per month? What about checking out your local college and booking your beauty treatments there? I used to pay £40 a month to get my eyebrows shaped and legs waxed. I now spend a fiver a month and get not only those done but also a manicure. Its a cheaper way of making me feel good about myself. BTW, most colleges will offer vouchers which you can give as gifts to people. Treated my Mum to a massage, a facial and her make up done for £5. She thought it was a fab present.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • Just think without those big nails you will be able to pick your nose properly, scratch your bum effectivley.. all without the worry of the nails pinging off !

The college is a really good idea tho....

If you cancel that appointment you can take them off at home for very cheap
Go to yuor local chemists and buy a bottle of asotone (about 80p)
put the asotone in an old bowl and soak your nails off in it. It takes about an hour a sit would at the nail bar. Its the same stuff that you buy at the chemist as the salon uses.
Hey presto job done for under £1
Trust me ive been there done it and got the t shirt!
2007 is my getting slim year
Total weight loss so far is 16llbs:T
    Total to go 15 pounds:eek:
Not no more as im having a baby:D
  • I used to have acrylic nails (for about 6 years !!) and found that the ones you can buy and stick on for a fiver are just as good, last as long and if you break one you can stick it straight back on - no more days of dodgy looking finger-nails.
One word of advice though - they do make your nails weaker, but then again so do acrylic ones.
I have now managed to wean myself off false nails for good and have actually started to grow my own !! It's only taken 15 years !!!!! Just think of all the money I could have saved !!

Thanks for this, I'm definately going to do this rather than go to the Salon. I feel so much better knowing that I can at least save on having them off...they look quite nice and natural but going to just concentrate on growing my natural nails and getting them strong.

Did the acrylic come off ok then, was there much residue left on your nails? Did you have to scrape it off?
