Due to a recent 'interesting coincidence', it may be possible that a key stroke or screen shot spy programme may have been introduced into my computer without my knowledge. Is there any way of checking whether this has been the case. There would have been physical access to the computer, so any programme would have been legitimately loaded, so does not show up as malware or an illegal spy programme. Is there anything I can do to check this? I ran Norton and AdAware, but there didn't seem to be anything specifically there. How do you know if a programme is running in the background recording internet sites accessed or documents that you are reading or writing?

Run hijackthis and post the results, with luck Browntoa will have a look at it for you.0

No one product finds everything, so check with as many AV and anti spyware products as you can. Also check for rootkits..

Sorry J-R, you need to run HJT from your C: drive route,

I did as you said. You get a scan and save log prompt. The log is as posted above. Did I do something wrong?
J_R0 -
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe
This suggests that you ran hijackthis from the desktop, and not the C: root. If this is the case, follow the link I posted and follow those excellent instructions and with luck expresso, browntoa or pChelpman will have a look at the results for you.
Or Mr Albertross (sorry Mr R!!)0 -
or you could just post it here, and click analyze.

Hijackthis won't be able to detect rootkit malware, so suggest you scan for them.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
