my daughter is 6 we get high rate dla and low rate mobility, she is a tye 1 diabetic and ceoliac, she has a insulin pump which she wears all the time.
she has no hypo awareness, and when hypo is very hard work, ive even had people stop and say "when i was young a slap worked well". mostly elderly, i dont hang around and explain no worth it.
now been told we will get a blue badge for her, but ive looked round and i think what i was told by our council maybe incorrect?
was also advised we may get help in changing husband car, in which we are in the process of looking around.
can we get any help on taxing the car etc?
or are we mising out on anything my husband works and im her carer.
thanks

You can only use the Motability scheme to hire a car if you receive High Rate Mobility, the same applies to road tax exemption and automatic Blue Badge. Depending on your local council they might give you a discretionary Blue badge if they think she needs one.0

My son has just turned 3 and is also type 1 diabetic, we get high rate care but no mobility which I am currently fighting as his diabetes is very unstable and limits any type of walking or exercise. I applied for a blue badge from my council which they awarded really quickly and with no problems. I think from what I've looked at you need to receive high rate mobility to get any help with car tax etc?0
