We got our allotment in May just before i had my son 4 weeks early so i have only managed to get a few bits and bobs over there, peas, beans, potatoes etc. Was thinking last night while watering that i should maybe stop fretting about the veg I've missed out on and start preparing for autumn/winter veg/fruit. The only thing is i haven't a clue about seasonal veg really and when/how to plant!any help/ideas would be great! We eat just about everything and i have a keen allotmenteer (DD age 3) to help/scoff the produce!
Thank you!
Thank you!

It's a bit late to be sowing anything to overwinter. You can buy plug plants of kale, purple sprouting broccoli, brussels. You can try to get some parsnips in the ground.
Quick cropping veg for this time of the year are good too. I'm going to grow lots of oriental veg , chinese cabbage, kailaan (chinese broccoli), choi sum and pak choi. You can sow spring cabbages for cropping later.
You can start some fennel bulbs too.0 -
How about planting some cabbage/broccoli/sprout plants. Also how about sowing some spinach or swiss chard seeds - they are quick growing once they germinate - I always grow this and then blanch it and put it in the freezer for the Winter. Also I have still got some small leek plants to go in - must do that this weekend.0

Pak choi will bolt (go to seed) very quickly if the weather stays this warm - better to grow this in the Spring or Autumn.0

Just remembered - carrots - I planted some seeds last weekend and put some radish seeds in the same row - the radishes have already come up and will be ready before the carrots get too big.0

You can try to get some parsnips in the ground.
Parsnips can be hard to get going so I'd chit them first.
Sowing the seeds on some moist kitchen paper in a clear tub with a lid e.g. chinese takeaway container, ice cream tub etc.
Put the tup on a window sill and wait for the seeds to germinate, then carefully plant the germinated seeds (be really careful with their roots)0
