The last rented house I lived in me and my partner had the only two keys. I think if the landlord/LA had a key then I would have changed the locks and back again before moving out. At least that way you have peace of mind knowing that no one can let themselves in to your house when you are not there0

I personally would want my landlord to have a key in case there is an emergency when i am away for example...
I'm not worried about them having it, as at the end of the day it's their house, we're in a more of a position to harm them than the other way around iyswim...
As for feeling safe well we put chains on our door meaning they can't get in when we're in....
I think most people would know when a letting agent or landlord has been in when you're not there...I would know just as I would know if a stranger had been in my own home...0
