gift voucher expired - or is it?

For my birthday in January I was given a Spa treatment voucher (worth £69). As I just had a baby I couldn't use the voucher immediately, put it on the pin board and forgot about it.
I found it last night, checked the expiry date - 9th July - thought to myself how lucky I was to find it on time and rang them today - 9th July - to book the treatment. The next appointment available was 17th July, but was told I'd have to pay for the treatment as the voucher would be expired by then.
Does anybody know if there is anything I can do? It's such a waste of money...

You could try writing to their head office or person in charge explaining the circumstances and asking for it to be extended by 2 weeks to give you time to use it.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
