You should get a letter from gas safe, which states the date of installation, what boiler/ system it is and that the work was carried out by a gas safe engineer.
If you didnt get a certificate at the time, you will struggle to get any good gas safe engineer to issue you one other than who installed it. This is because they will effectively be putting their name against someone else's work, and if it turns out to be dodgy it will betheir name tarnished.
Possibly, if you cannot get the certificate, if you can get a gas man round to do a full inspection, and say its safe, the buyer should be satisfied.0 -
Hi,
I had a boiler and central heating system fitted 2 years ago.
The boiler was commissioned by a gas safe engineer.
I was never issued with any sort of building regulations certificate, but at the time i was not aware i would (should) of been.
I am currently selling my flat and the solicitor is asking for this certificate, but i was never issued with one.
Ive spoken to the engineer that commissioned the boiler, but he said its something that was up to me, which i found strange?
He obviously didnt register the boiler...
How do i go about getting a sufficient certificate to satisfy the solicitors??
Thanks alot
Your supposed RGI is talking nonsense-it's up to him to register it. That's why self-certification exists. From that response I would assume that he is not actually GSR-did you check him out on the register, or just accept his word for it? If necessary report him if he refuses to sort this out, or report him to GSR if not registered.
Did he complete the benchmark paperwork and hand that to you when he commissioned the boiler?
Why did you pay him before you had received the completed paperwork? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Humm I guess I will have to chase the guy up. I did check him out and he is on the gas safe register.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090

It can take GSR 10-15 working days to issue a BR cert. after it has been notified by a RGI. When did your RGI complete your install? Has he filled in the Benchmark?0 -

It is ultimately the householder's responsibility under Building Regulations.0 -
Yep he filled out all the benchmark stuff at the back of the installation manual. Might give him a ring and see if he has forgotten to do it or maybe its got lost in the post somewhere.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090

And when did he finish the install? If the RGI puts you off call GSR and ask if it has been notified.0 -
There is no legal reason why you must supply any certificate except an Energy performance certificate to a buyer, You may choose to, but there is no requirement. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Just about 2 months ago. I had no idea about getting a BR certificate otherwise I would have chased this up a bit sooner.
I just spotted this thread last night so thought I would check to see what is needed before ringing the plumber up.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090
