Took my car for repairs, got it back in a worse state

  • OE parts generally are of higher quality, I carefull select between buying OE and buying aftermarket.

For all my steering and suspension parts now, I always try to fit OE, fed up of replacing cheapo factor lower arms every MOT for people. Would rather replace a worn balljoint with an OE balljoint, than bin the whole lot for a factor arm.

However, I'd chance an aftermarket window reg, infact I'd just get one off a scrapper.

OE parts though, don't knock them on price, they are more expensive, but they generally last far longer on "wear and tear" items.

Yeah, this is probably right but its often possible to to get parts directly from the OE manufacturer but without the name of the car manufacturer stamped on it - this can save quite a few quid and only takes a bit of research on the net to find out who the OE manufacturer is.

I totally agree, I'll happily fit LuK clutch kits, Gates/Dayco timing belt kits or NGK spark plugs, as these generally are supplying the OE parts anyway.

But there is a lot of "rubbish" about, FAI lower arms spring to mind :lipsreal:
