Lloyds TSB - appointment to discuss products

Hi,

Lloyds TSB called my DH on his mobile last week and invited us to "pop in and have a chat" about our banking requirements. He was caught on the hop and has made an appointment for tomorrow morning.

A letter has arrived confirming this appointment but I don't think we are going to gain anything from it. IMO they are only going to try to sell us their products and apart from upgrading the Current A/c (currently Platinum but would consider the 4% interest one) I can't see us gaining anything.

They have said it would be "helpful" if we could bring along the following:
  • Details of savings, investments and pensions
  • Details of insurance policies
  • NI Number
  • Income and expenditure details
Savings & pensions wise - DH has just transferred ISA from M&S to Santander. Pension - DH has Forces pension and I am local authority.

Insurance policies - we have good personal ax and life insurance (costs £50 p/m)

Income and expenditure ... they should know - it's our current account!

Does anyone know if they have any worthwhile products at the mo?

Seriously thinking of cancelling appt ...

Ali

The Airmiles Credit card is a very good product.

Am I correct in thinking you are paying £17 per month for your Platinum account ?

Do you get value for money from the benefits ? Are they worth the £200+ per year.

You could surprise them and ask to downgrade to the Classic account (no monthly fee) with vantage.(4% pa interest on balances between £5,000 & £7,000).

I went for one of these, I went along because when I opened my account they said they would "review" my overdraft after 12 months and I thought this was related. It wasn't related to the overdraft though, she just went through asking about a few things like savings, insurance and all the products they offer. It wasn't a "hard sell", she was friendly and wasn't laying on the pressure and accepted all the answers I gave. I didn't take any extra products and that wasn't a problem.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Thanks for the opinions ... I cancelled! The appt clashed with something else and I felt that I could research their products as and when I am looking to update something without the need for "a chat".
