hi there,
Firstly can I complement your site... You guys have done a great job with all advice and information. We were watching GM.TV when the bit came up about unfair bank charges... Well, there has not been a month in the last 3 and a half years that we havent been charged by a bank. Its a vicious circle, your salary goes into the bank, but only to be taken by banks charges for previous month.
We had a look at our statements from Natwest and in total there are about 6 months that we cannot account for as we lost those statements and cannot find them anywhere. Yesterday we went down to Natwest to get a full account statement since the account has been opened but they are telling us that they will charge us £5 per page printed... now if you do the maths, on the assumption that there are 2 pages a month on a statement, that will mean that they want me to pay £210 for a account statement, whats that all about?????
can anyone advise me on what i can do to avoid these crazy charges to get a account statement.
Also based on charges, what are we able to claim back for? If a Direct Debit has been returned, we end up paying double the amount, we usually have to pay the company that we owe the money to and then the bank as well, and then on top of those charges, there are also Natwest referral charges. Based on the statements that I have, there is just over £2000 in charges.
Any help here is appreciated.
Thanks a million

go to http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/
you will only get your money back by taking them to court - they will settle before then
getting all your statements costs £10 - you use a DPA-SAR - info in the library
