Ripped Of by easyJeyt on-line Booking

In April I attempted to book two flights to Budapest but my credit card
was rejected. I tried again, and it was again rejected, on the third time
it was also rejected, finally, on my fourth attempt, I was told that there
had been a price rise, which I reluctantly agreed, and the card was
accepted. My subsequent return bookings from a different airport had also
been increased. I had to pay £60 more than would have been the
case if my first booking had been accepted.

I raised this matter on alt.travel.air.uk and someone suggested that my previous booking had been "held" by the system, and readjusted when I finally got though.

I therefore wrote to easyJet, (I am not prepared to play their 0870 game money game), and enjoyed a fruitless exchange of letters with them. They got my name wrong, my address wrong, and failed entirely to address the matter.

Now, having assembled a damning paper trail, I have raised a formal complaint with the CAA, requesting a refund of £75.00. Am I urinating windwardly here, or has anyone managed to prise a refund, (money, not a credit note), out of Stelios?
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

  • I've not had any experience of a refund from Easyjet but as you agreed to the new price (and their T's and C's) I doubt very much they'll give you a refund.

Ryanair did refund some cancelled flights (inc debit card fee) when they changed "airports" on me (include of flying back to LTN they wanted me to fly back to STN).

If any airline website is playing up, I'd clear cookies, clear temporary internet files, and clear history from the browser, wait 15 minutes and then start again with a different card.
