Fat Loaf Didsbury Strictly Confidential Deal

From 'Strictly Confidential': "Fat Loaf has come up with a winning steak menu of three courses plus half a bottle of wine for just £22.50
This is the kind of dinner that will gladden your heart from start to finish. The team at the Fat Loaf in Didsbury have created this extra-special steak and kebab menu in honour of the late Steak and Kebab Restaurant which used to occupy the spot where they are now. It stars meats from W H Frost butchers in Chorlton alongside seasonal salads and delicious sides such as chunky chips, homemade pickles, and herby rice.
The starter platter features a bowl of Mr Frost's cocktail-sized Toulouse sausages plus generous slices of dill-marinated smoked salmon. The cheese fritters might sound like something dodgy from a freezer store, but they're actually sophisticated bites of fromage heaven – crispy on the outside and soft and light inside. The garlic prawns are meaty beasts rather than those anaemic tiddlers served in some places.
It's a perfect platter for picking at with a pal. Kind of like party food, if the party was being held by a gourmet chef who insisted on serving his guests only the finest nibbles known to mankind.
The main event is a lip-smacking, crowd-pleasing meat feast that is presented in a way that makes it look all stylish and refined. We thought the highlight was the skirt steak. It's traditionally seen as one of the lesser cuts but not here – marinated in olive oil, soya sauce, garlic and thyme for 48 hours, then grilled to perfection, it's strong on flavour and texture and very juicy. You have to try it.
It comes with a rosemary lamb kebab and a skewer of free range chicken. The lush green salad, herby rice, proper chips and home-made relish show the chefs are keen to get every last detail right.
Finally the desserts, which you can choose from the a la carte menu. We had a creamy white chocolate and blueberry cheesecake, served with pot of lemon curd-like posset and a raspberry coulis. The dark chocolate marquise – a rich boozy chocolate mousse served with amaretto cherries and almonds is an indulgent end to an indulgent meal. Other options include apple and blackberry crème brulee and a grande assiette of cheese.
This is a dinner that's designed to please – few people (vegetarians excepted) don't get excited at the thought of smoked salmon, perfectly cooked steak, and some of the best puddings in South Manchester.
And it all comes with half a bottle of wine per person – the £22.50 price tag makes this a very good deal.
It's bound to be popular and it only runs until the end of July
