Painting a landing and stairs

Hi I want to save some money and am going to paint the stairs and landing myself. The only thing is the height of the stairs. Are there any tips on painting such areas that anyone could share with me?
Many thanks in advance

HSL is one of the trickiest areas to paint, you need to paint the ceiling first, then walls.
I sometimes work of the ladder, and place it against the walls on the stairs, but sometimes there is bits you cant get at, so you need a board, and another set of steps.
You place ladder up againt the wall, this is the wall that you normally see when you walk down the stairs, then place (if you can) steps or another ladder against another wall, and place board betweeen to reach the hard places.
When you come to paint your walls, make sure you place a sheet or something on top of the ladder, this will stop the ladder marking the wall when you apply pressure by standing on the rungs.
You can buy an angled paintbrush that slips on the end of your pole, and if you have a steady hand, you can cut in with that.
The ceiling is not the propblem so much, its the cutting in on the walls against the ceiling that is the tricky bit when your painting HSL.0 -
You can hire special ladders that sit on stairs and provide a platform.0

I will go along with these. When I did mine I had a ladder one side, a small set of ladders the other and a long plank which I borrowed from my dad which was about 8 inches wide and about an inch deep! Felt like I was walking the plank. felt a bit precarious but I think as long as your ladders are of the sturdy type it should be ok. Oh! and make sure you drape something over the banisters0

We painted our hall/landing and stairs a few months ago. The ceiling is very high. OH stuck the paintbrush on the end of a broom handle. It might not be the best way but it worked for us. Also think you can buy a roller with an extra long handle. Hope this is of some help. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile
