How can I use two monitors on my PC?

Another one for you techies please if you can.... i haven't got a clue!!!

I wish to extend my desktop by using a second monitor.

I have a NVidia GeForce FX 5200 video card which has a standard VGA socket and a DVI socket on.

What do i need to allow me to usea second VGA monitor? is it simply a case of getting a DVI->VGA adaptor? or do i need a second card??

your card should support two monitors and yes you can just use a dv-->vga adapter and plug a normal vga cable into your other monitor.

If you go into control panel and then display you should see a tab saying settings. In there you can configure how the two monitors are ie resloution etc.

I have this configured on my GeForce ti6200. I had to use the nvidia drivers before this would work. The standard Microsoft ones did not work at all.

you should be using the nvidia ones anyway - you'll get better performance than the bog standard M$ ones which are designed purely to get the system up and running
