Private Feedback

Noticed a seller today who has hidden their feedback by making it private.

They have a fair few negs and neutrals in the past month.

I take it they are simply have something to hide? Or is there a legitimate reason for making your feedback private?

When I see sellers with private feedback, I ask myself why exactly would they be doing this? I think what you said hits the nail on the head VH, they must have something to hide. If you are a seller with a good profile, why would you not want to show the world? It certainly puts me off buying from them and especially when they have started getting a few negs and neutrals, I would think very carefully before bidding for their items as, afterall, if you don't receive your item, who will see the negative you leave them?

    Nobody will....

I agree with you JPS, private feedback always makes me nervous as although you can still see how many negs and neutrals have been left, you don't know what they are for.

The only legitimate reason I can possibly think of for making your feedback private is to hide the fact that you have bought a gift or something for someone, or maybe bought something risque

I tend to avoid sellers with private feedback.

    LOL!!

I would keep away from people with private feedback! for the reasons above and also because they could be shill bidders etc! with loads of feedback from the same person! As the feedback rating may show high the bidder may just be one person! - this can happen if they have different transactions!

Seller in question has 8 negs and 7 neutrals within 30 days... can't be good! I will definitely avoid this one!

Like you all say I can't see any other reason for private feedback other than hiding the actual comments, or concealing shilll bidding!

Personally I think EBay should prevent people doing this, the whole point of feedback is that you are able to check it!

I totally agree VH - why do eBay allow sellers (and buyers) to do this?! Doesn't make much sense if you ask me...
