I do not know what is best. Problem with bailiffs is no advice is bad, wrong advice is worse.

Although what i would do is, pay the court directly the 255. And then dispute any bailiff charges with the help of Herbie21.

but they have said they will keep attewnding and adding 200 every time they do so.
the woman at philips was soo threatening. telling me they are not there to help me-just to get their money, which i know is true but very harsh to say to someone in tears on the phone!!

absolutely shocking and they have scared me to death.

Have a cup of tea and try and relax a little, you probably wont see them now till Monday at the earliest, not a guarantee but a probablitlity :)

THe chap we need to chime in is called Roberto Moir an ex bailiff himself with fantastic knowledge of everything that is bailiff lol, keep an eye on this thread and hopefully he or some of the other fantastic knowledgable people on here will pick this thread up later.

If you want immediate answers then as has been said the other website will be able to provide you with these, I just do not see why you should have to pay for information that is freely available in the public domain, it is just a case if knowing where to look for it :)

I know it is stressful I have had far too many run ins with bailiff's not for fines granted but I do know how you feel, try and relax a little and keep an eye on this thread or as suggested use the bailiffadviceonline site if you feel that bad :(

all the best it will come good in the end :)

Thanks Underpressure. I know i am freaking out!! I have been trying to ring the bailiffhelpine number for the past two hours but it is permenantly engaged!!

I am scared of losing my car. and then i cannot work!! (i work as a sessional worker for barnados and cannot do my job without a car!!).

I know not to let them in but they are saying they will just force their way in when i am at work, or use physical force against me to enter.

I could raise the £225 by end of next week/beginning of week after. but i cannot see the £220 charge!!!! The description they have of "my house" they have visited is NOT MY HOUSE!!!

I know on sat navs it send people to a different street (iam in a new build), can this get me out of this 220 charge for a vid=sit they have not carried out?

    thanks everyone for your help.

    Hi Vikki

Im not too sure to be really honest with you again keep an eye on this thread and see what others say later on, and if you do get through on the number ask them ad see what they say.

To ensure your car is safe in the short term the general rule of thumb is to park it away from your house as in a good 5 minute walk away, is the car registered to you? Some bailiff's have number plate recognition cameras, I have never sen any any always thought they were law enforcement only but a few on here have said a few time this is the case, but the further away from the house the better :)

I know it is frustrating when you need answers to your questions immediately but bear with the forum I am sure others will chime in later tonight to help out, I really must brush my knowledge on this subject up properly I now the ins and outs when it comes to debt but not 100% with fines etc.

Stay cal deep breaths lol :) Keep trying the advice line number sounds like you could do with a bit of immediate peace of mind, the fact that it is engaged only signals that you are not the only 1 with thse kind of issues so chin up it will come good :)

Can you phone National Debtline back and check what fees they ae allowed to charge.
Maybe explain you have had no luck with the court.
You could tryand get in touch with your local councillor who may be able to intervene?
Otherwise I would write to the bailiffs recorded delivery, stating you are on benefits and stating what you can afford to pay and keep a copy.

I really would keep trying with Herbie21's website. 60p a minute for decent advice is a lot cheaper than getting it wrong and ending up with hundreds in charges and the possible cost of getting the locks repaired or replacing your goods.

UnderPressure, the info might be in the public domain, but so is a lot of wrong info, and it all contradicts each other. I've heard of bad advice coming from places like CAB, so it's really not that easy to find out the truth. So Herbie is a godsend, and she has to make her living somehow!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I have also had another thought now i have calmed down a little!!
If i ring or go into the court on the 19th when i get paid and ask them if i pay them the full amount (225) of the fine will they take the debt back, because i feel threatened and harrased by the bailiff, would they do this if it means that they get their money?

I can pay the fine amount on the 19th. it will be a complete struggle, but i cannot see another way arounnd it. but i cannot afford to pay the 200 in costs that the bailiff has added on. especially when i have never either seen or had any hand delivered post from them.
