Digital camera help

i have a Panasonic DMC-FS11

for some reason when i switch it on it comes up with system error (zoom) and i can't do anything with it!

any advice?

    have you got sand/debris near it by any chance. a few people have reported this error on other forums

    There are several ways to "attempt" to rectify this and not all of them are safe.
    Your first option is to ask the manufacture. It might be under warranty, but grit in your lense mechanism isn't usually covered so you have to way up the costs/risk.
    You can open up your camera - Risky
    You can try blowing compressed air around the mechanism - Possibly risky too (that little grain of sand has to fly off somewhere or you might blow more in!!.
    You can start tapping your expensive toy against a hard surface and hope for the best.
    Physically force your lens open which is also dangerous to your camera.
    Another method is to connect your camera up to the TV first and then turn it on in the hope that by not using the built in LCD screen you have more "juice" to drive the lense with, but I have no idea if this would really work.
    Have you tried a factory reset too?
    Just be carefull if your using any of the brute force methods as you might end up with a far worse situation
