Either try put them on your insurance, or Saxon Insurance I found was the cheapest for a single room etc. However for our student house we will be getting a whole house contents insurance as it is a lot more comprehensive

I had a claim with them last year (unfortunately) and they were most helpful. Word of advice with any insurance claim however, ALWAYS call in the first instance, dont just send the claim off in the post. It might get 'lost'.0 -

It is not neccessary. My landlord of the previous 2 years, Alba Residential in Edinburgh, tried that, very forcefully. However, when you move out anything damaged will have to be replaced.
TOP TIP: If you get plates and cutlery provided in a furnished flat, BOX THEM and put them away. Even if you break only one you are often required to replace the whole set. Take old plate and nick you parents forks!0
