RyanAir Priority Boarding

it really made me chuckle when a middle-aged man went rushing past me, OH and our 2 kids one of whom was on crutches because of a foot injury and nearly barged into him as he went running past to get on the plane before us and he was in such a rush he dropped his tabloid paper and had to come rushing back for it. All this to save a couple of quid! pathetic0

Two points:
You got to sit together, therefore the purpose of sitting together was fulfilled.
How much is your time worth? You have written one letter, they have said no. Is it worth continuing to argue over £16?Gone ... or have I?0 -

If you pay for a service, don't you expect to receive that which the company has charged for? Surely it's a matter of principle.0 -

Just got a reply to my second letter to RyanAir. In my 2nd letter I quoted their own terms and conditions (see below) and threatened them with legal action. Result is a full apology and a refund of £16.
"we operate a Priority Boarding system which allows passengers to board the aircraft first and choose their own seat on board."
So how much of my time was it all worth? Well first letter took 10 mins, 2nd took about 5mins and I spent about £1 in postage. Was it worth arguing over £16? I'm surprised of that question on a forum dedicated to saving money!
The reason I paid for priority boarding and the reason why many families do the same is because we not only want to sit together but we also want to avoid the queues of boarding the plane and also walking through the plane with people moving hand luggage around not seeing a 3 year old standing next to them. I paid £16 for that pleasure, I didnt get it so I expect my money back.
So there you go, if you paid for priority boarding and didnt get it just quote Ryan Air's T&Cs and you should get a refund.0 -

Well done you :T
Ryanair priority boarding is a joke - on my last fight with them I watched as a woman who clearly knew how to work the system arrived at the door to the plane ahead of the priority boarders as she knew there was a lift to take her down past the queue of people leaving the airport by the stairs. Although she got dirty looks no one said anything to her..... I would have if I'd paid extra. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

well done - it is the principle of this - they can keep taking the money off people and very few will complain - hence they make a lot of money.0

A couple of Ryanair experiences in the past week....
On one flight an elderly woman who paid for priority boarding was first through the gate but walked slowly and was overtaken by many others on the walk to the plane. I should put her in touch with greekboy.
On another flight I was among the last half a dozen people to board the aircraft but got an emergency exit row seat with extra leg room. Funny old world isn't it?
I was given priority of sorts earlier at the baggage drop off counter. I joined a very long queue an hour and a quarter before take off time. After 30 minutes a call went out for passengers on my flight to come forward and jump the queue. It was a relief as we were dangerously close to the 40 minute cut off rule. At least it wasn't another David Dimbleby moment:

Dont know if in terms & conditions but at least whenever we fly from southern Italy (palermno / trapani) they say priority bookers and family with small children first. In palermno they use two buses in trapani you walk to plane but if lot of small kids make sure they can get on without speedy Gonzales pushing them over.0
