Please feel free to re-word any of the following for me as I've just typed it off the top of my head and it probably needs putting in some sort of order. It's going to go on Tracing Equines index page so people see it as soon as they look at the website. I've removed the actual links as didn't want people to think I was advertising or owt but happy to repost them if needed
Would you know what to do if your horse got stolen ?
Do you know who to contact if your horse got sold whilst on loan ?
Would you know who to contact ?
It is astonishing the amount of people who do not realise there is a community called Horsewatch and groups of people waiting to help you out in such an awful time.
Fair enough, yes, post on your favourite horsey forums saying "help, my horse has been stolen. She's a chestnut mare, please keep a look out".
But then what happens ? If you're lucky, a horsewatch volunteer (and yes, we all do this as a volunteer role) will pick up on your post and say "have you filled in the form for the stolenhorseregister ? have you informed the police ? do you have a crime reference number ?"
If you're not lucky, your post will be lost in the ether of the world of forums and be forgotten about.
Here's how to change that and it involves a little bit of legwork from yourself.
Make sure you have the following wrote down somewhere ...
- Contact HORSEWATCH
- Contact POLICE
- Contact STOLEN HORSE REGISTER
- Contact TRACING EQUINES
Link to page listing all contact details for horsewatch and police - ***

Preferably, dig out the phone numbers you need now, do it today. Stick them in your mobile phone so they are to hand straight away. If you cant find your local Horsewatch or Police phone numbers, get in touch with us here and we'll find them for you.
If your horse does get stolen, by posting it on the Tracing Equines forum means that it will stay online for as long as it is needed. We've got posts about horses as far back as 2007.
The Stolen Horse Register requires you to fill a form in in order to put horses on their website. This enables them to gather all the information they require about your horse in order to log it as stolen. You do need a crime reference number so make sure you have reported your stolen horse to the police and got one.
- Contact MISSING ON LOAN

If your horse has been sold whilst on loan, please contact Katie at the above website and she can help you find out more information and hopefully trace your horse's whereabouts

I think I would alter these bits..

... or who to contact if your horse got sold whilst on loan?

The edited text then reads:Would you know what to do if your horse got stolen?

Many people do not realise there is a nationwide group called Horsewatch, (is it all one word??) who can help at such an awful time.

If the owner is lucky, a Horsewatch volunteer (and yes, we all do this as a volunteer role) will see the post and contact the owner to ask whether they have filled in the form for the Stolen Horse Register. They may remind them to inform the police, and log the crime reference number.
However, if they are not so lucky, the forum message will go unnoticed and be forgotten about.
Here's how to change that and it involves a little bit of legwork from yourself.

Add NetPosse.com as a contact. We list horses for free outside of the US and Canada. We are a nonprofit organization powered by volunteers. Please google us for references.0

I will not be adding NetPosse as a contact. I have sent several emails in the past regarding linking our sites together and all have gone un-answered and have never appeared at your end for whatever reason (and yes this has been checked by one of your admin people).
Edit to add - if you want a link on my website, there is a perfectly good reciprocal links page which you can use
Many thanks - foreign correspondent0 -
