Help! Seller withdraws item after I,ve paid.

Yesterday I bid at lunchtime for a pair of boots. I logged on to Ebay at auction close and saw that I had won auction and paid straight away through paypal by credit card. But have just noticed today an email sent to me from seller, which was sent before end of auction, saying sorry but the auction has ended.

I presume he withdrew the boots because he wanted more for them and I was the only bidder. But he didn't physically withdraw the item from ebay because I won and paid for it. Have sent person an email asking for refund, but what do I do if he doesn't respond.

    Hi

He probably wanted to take them off eBay, but you can't with less than 12 hours to go. Strictly speaking, you have won them fair and square and they are now yours. He can not just say sorry I don't want to sell them any more. What happens if a buyer says that they no longer want to buy the item? I can tell you I get mad and negative feedback comes to mind! So why should it not be the same for sellers who do the same?

I think there is a good chance he will refund you, as just because he simply did not want to sell them it doesn't mean he will commit fraud too. When did you e-mail him? I reckon he should refund you within the next 24 hours, but if not a good place to start is by pulling his contact details off eBay and giving him a call to see what is happening.

if you go to paypal you can do a chargeback which is basically you getting your money back.
Ive not done this myself but it sounds as though paypal will back the buyer everytime. Then it would be upto the seller to prove he had sent you the item if he wanted to query it.

yeh, you can do this, its easy enough, if he wanted to end the item he could have cancelled your bids before emailing you.icon8.gif Start the chargeback asap!

Also report to ebay as NPSicon8.gif

    Hi

Just to say i have once got my money back through paypal (seller did not send item , and with in days of my 'purchase' there where about 10 neg feedbacks).

Its easy to do.... you have to give reasons for your request of moneyback and it takes a couple of days. I then got email saying that the seller was at fault and the money was refunded to my account.

  • Thanks for replies to my dilemma. The idiot has actually given me my money back by paying me through paypal (not refunding as he should). This has now cost me paypal charges, its only a small amount of money (£2.17) but I have no boots and have had to pay £2.17 for the privilage.
