Royal mail special delivery/FCO have lost my document

Comments

  • It's true that I didn't have a problem with Royal Mail Special Delivery when I sent the documents as I'd never encountered a problem like this before. I titled it as such because I spoke to the person responsible for legalizing my docs and she assured me that they have very secure procedures in place and it couldn't have possibly been the FCO! I don't know if I can edit the title now.

I don't understand the bit about cheapening my complaint. Yes, only the birth certificate is missing but I'm worried as I need to send all 3 of my documents back to the FCO(or go there in person) when I get the new birth certificate. It will take some time before everything is ready and I'm concerned.

When it comes down to it, your birth certificate has been lost, nothing more, nothing less. Labelling that document "priceless", regardless of the situation, is exaggeration. Most people who read this, especially with only the story in your first post, will think "wow, they're blowing this out of all proportion, and trying to inflate the seriousness to get something out of it".

Take a look at nearly all of the threads about beds. Why is it that the person who has a problem always:
    a) has some serious medical condition with their back
    b) is totally inflexible with time of work to take a delivery
    c) has thrown their old bed and mattress out already

You are probably right but I am a born worrier. I don't want anything out of this. I just want to get my documents legalized.
  • The one time I was asked for my passport, I took it by hand, as I needed it less than a week later for something else. I couldn't risk it going missing.

No I wasn't expecting anything more for the passport but for the second item that took 3 weeks yes I was and I didn't even get refund of postage costs. Basically it was being sent to someone who was going overseas and they were going to take it 'by hand' for me but as it took so long getting there, by the time it had arrived they had already flown and this person's wife posted it back for which I reimbursed her. Post office claimed that there must of been something wrong with the packaging/addressing(jiffy envelope, full legible address ) and requested to see the packaging, as this was requested some weeks later it had already been disposed of so they wouldn't reimburse!

I had problems with Royal Mail special delivery last year. DD was applying to Student Finance and they wanted to see her passport, sent it up, went online the next day to track it-not signed for, went on the following day and it stated that it had been re-directed(?)
Checked everyday for approx two weeks(never signed for at other end) and hey presto it turned up back at our front door via postman!! It had never been signed for at other end so I didn't know if Student Finance had seen it or not (later ascertained that they had seen it)
Complaint went in to Post office and they refunded the cost of 'Special delivery', nothing more!
Also had a problem last year when something was posted to arrive next day(it took 3 weeks!!)
As one of the most 'PC' companies in the land and a proud employer of a 'diverse' workforce, many of whom don't have a grasp of the English language or the first idea of the geography of the UK, then it's no wonder that so many packages go astray.

Unfortunately RM which was once such a proud British organisation has sacrificed customer service to the gods of 'diversidy' and political correctness.

I live about a mile from the FCO.

Don't waste your time hand delivering as you won't get past the security on the front gate.

I had to wait 3 months for security clearance for a cleaning job there a few years back. They don't let the public inside.

.......I also work for Royal Mail :o

Thanks for that. Perhaps I'm panicking for nothing and I was very unlucky.
