That's great. I know a few BT customers who were waiting in expectation of you contacting them, so I'll let them know that that is what you will do.

Will you inform other service providers, such as TalkTalk, of affected customers, or are they expected to conduct their own investigations?

    Hi Steve__M,

As a TalkTalk Customer if you register on the TalkTalk Members Forum (http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums) and post the details of this issue we can investigate into this for you.

If you include the relevant links for reference we can try and collate any affected members and raise this to our Network so this can be addressed accordingly.

    Cheers

I am the official company representative of Talk Talk. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"
  • I have successfully reported this to TalkTalk via the website and received a refund.

I've received a couple of calls from different TalkTalk departments who are "looking into this", whatever that means, including a call yesterday.

TalkTalk or the Post Office should take the opportunity to expose this issue more widely. It is unacceptable that network security breaches are ignored at the cost of customers when it is quite clear that BT have the technology to spot them.

So far there is *no* evidence of a network proactively contacting a customer to inform them of a problem.
  • I've just got off the phone with a TalkTalk person.

She tells me that TalkTalk are going to automatically refund people billed with the 09829323380 number. I told her the 09829319990 number as well.

She also told me that they had a list of 140 TalkTalk victims in Exeter!!! Add in BT, Sky and the Post Office, this scam was potentially raking in thousands of pounds.
