Hi just a query if anyone can help. I purchase some goods and paid on my credit card. I bought the wrong goods (my mistake) I took them back intact and unopened. The retailer advised me to get a refund, I would have to "pay the 5% he was initially charged for my purchase, plus another 5% for the refund. Or I can have a cash refund with just one 5% charge"
Is that right, there are notices displayed stating this, actually no notices about refunds at all.
Thanks

What exactly were these goods, which retailer was it (some have 30 day money back guarantees), how did you pay for it and i assume from what you've said it was in a shop and not online or anything like that? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Since you admit it was your mistake and the goods aren't faulty, if it was bought in person then it's completely up to the retailer if they're willing to refund or exchange, there is no legal right.0

Probably means "no refunds at all"....no notices about refunds at all.
It is always best to assume that no refund is available for non-faulty goods.
If it is important to you, you should ask at the time of purchase.
Maybe something like...
"if I change my mind, can I bring it back for a refund?".0
