Laptop or Netbook? Netbooks have relatively small screens(so maybe not good for the elderly) and no disc drives.
Netbooks begin at around £150. Laptops £2500 -
If it's for your parents, you shouldn't be looking for the cheapest,
you should be looking for the best.

From whence do these 'fly by nights' come? No useful technical info, just posting nonsense for the sake of it.0

If you aren't after sooperdooper allsinginganddancing, I'd recommend looking up the T series IBM laptops. You can pick up a decent one for £120 up on Ebay, they are still fairly high power and are amazingly reliable. The range is: T41, 42 and 43 - these are original IBM's, pre-Lenovo buyout (I can't get hold of enough of them!)IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer

Curious! I made a similar comment to Donnies and got a stream of complaints so vitriolic that I changed my user name. It seems my belief that there is a strong clique element who like to bully others is true.0 -

Awful spec. Windows CE. 7" screen is less than ideal for older people. Tiny keys, not good for adults. Browser doesn't do flash. Severly limited in what you can do with it.
Right now they only want to be able to browse, but who knows what they'll want to do in 6 months once they've got the hang of it. Get something that can run a proper OS, not a crippled machine that's basically a PDA in a big case. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
