Which card to take to Peru?

Can any one help me I am going to Peru in September and need to take a credit card . It states Visa is more widely accepted than Mastercard . Can any one advise which one is best ?

During the Van Der Sloot murder (Florez) a lot of attention was drawn to Peru and to the tourist spots and his case, casinos. Apparently all these places in Peru usually have handling fees for CC's and also for transaction and ATM fees so you might be better with traveller's checks.
In regards to Visa and Mastercard i am not sure but they are definately not big on Amex and they dont accept Diners Club or Discover cards anywhere in the country. HTH.0
