A long delay for DLA

They keep telling us should there be a change in our circumstances to notify them. I did and am still waiting. I re applied after another knee operation left me with grade four osteoathritis in both knees, this was end of April, I received a letter last week saying it may take up to eleven weeks. Im sure if I had told them I had made a full recovery and no longer require DLA my benefit would stop immediately. I currently get the lowest amount on the grounds that I struggle to prepare and cook a meal, but I dont get anything considering I cannot walk more than 50 mtrs without the need to sid down. No doubt now things will get worse for folk my myself.

I sympathize Jeff - but its the same as everywhere - look at the banks - they can take money out of your account instantly if you owe it to them for fees - but they take 5 working days to clear a cheque - in this day and age of technology - i think not Mr Banker...

Hope that you get your award upgraded to what you want - eventually !

the way to look at it is...............you are still getting what youre used to having, so havent lost out...and the longer it takes, the more you'll get as a backdated lump sum!

i'd rather have £200 in one go than £20 a week for 10 weeks.........or is that just me? lol

Sadly DLA awards can take a long time to assess. Even when they tell you that it may take 12 weeks it's only a may but could actually take longer. The 12 weeks is what they aim for, some can be quicker others longer.

I guess it depends on how long it takes GPs, Consultants etc to reply to correspondance sent out to them along with how many other cases that the Decision Makers are looking at in their work queue.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
