Garden chaos... clueless!

Hi,
I'm completely new to gardenning, never did it as a kid... basically I collected freebie seeds over the last number of months and planted them, but lost all the 'ID' card/ label thingies and have no idea what's what!! it's all been allowed to grow 'wild'... i've just watered and waited to see what happens! the big problem is that I dont know which ones are root veg or above ground and dont know what to do! :o

I've taken photos (23 in all) in the hope that you can see if you recognise any... how do I display/ give you access to so many pictures? I have a truprint account but you'd have to log in to see the photos!!

I'd also wecome any VERY SIMPLE book suggestions for garden idiots like me!!
Thanks so much
Tanya

Try posting the photos on http://imageshack.us/ (no registration required). When you've posted the images you get a screen with a series of "Links to share your image". Pick the one called "forum code" and paste it here, like this:

  • Photo 9- actually look like leeks to me :)

Photo 10- could this be purple sprouting broccoli thats bolted???? (i think broccoli flowers are yellow though)

Photo 13- could this be a herb (cant remember which arrrggghhhh)

Photo 14- could this be fennel from the yellow flowers?

    Photo 15- Roses

    Photo 16- Sunflower

Photo 18- looks like young brassica plant, could it be broccoli? just looks to bright green, brassicas are usually more blueish green in apperance

Photo 19- im afraid these dont look like either courgette or aubergine to me :-(

Photo 22- this looks like a cross between a sweetcorn plant and a chilli/pepper or french bean, ill go for sweetcorn on the left and french bean on the right.

    Photo 23- Parsley??

Sorry i cant be of more help :)

The photos are pretty small and it's not always clear which plants you're trying to identify. My guesses...

2- houseplant, peace lily or similar
    4- does look like jasmine
5- hard to make out, looks like dock leaves, are the branches alive?
7- the green spikes: irises or lilies of some sort?
10- opium poppies after the flowers have finished
    11- iris or lily?

    15- rose
    16- sunflower
    17 – gladioli
21- not sure what you’re trying to identify
22- gladiolus on the left and sunflower on the right
