Go to details in the paypal transaction then refund and you can enter the amount you wish to refund.

You are a very honest seller, refunding when the seller has not even asked, one of those that make buying on eBay a pleasure! :T

Or you could sellotape a couple of pound coins to a complements slip and include it in the package and save on the PayPal refund fee. That way the buyer get's the refund, it won't cost you anything to make it and if you are selling stuff that has any repeat element to it the seller now has your ID in front of them on a piece of paper so they can be reminded of who you are.

If the seller is not as honest as the OP and for some reason returns the item, or there is a dispute the OP may be out of pocket as they can't prove they've given a part-refund.

I always suggest refunding via paypal. If you do refund from the original payment the element of fees that relates to that refund are refunded as well, so you refund £2 and it only costs you say £1.90 but the buyer still gets their £2.

Also as terra_firma says if you do have a problem then your refund doesn't count if it goes to a paypal claim and you could end up still refunding the whole of the original payment.
