Boiler in airing cupboard

The gas engineer is going to fit a WB combi in the airing cupboard. I thought it needs to be at the back of an external wall and it will be a hassle to get access as it is very long. He told me he can fix it in the airing cupboard anywhere I want on the side wall near the door instead the back which is better for me as I will be able to control the knobs. There will be enough clearance except the boiler will be on the side wall and I do not know how this works, he says, it is serviced from the bottom. Is this the normal, I guess he intends to use an extension flue, also the side wall is plasterboard, will that be a problem? I just want another opinion & do not want it to be in such a position that when BG engineer comes to service it and complains about the poisiton of the boiler. Thanks

The wall being plasterboard is an issue unless its the flame retardant variety.

Serviced from the front I think you will find.

Most boilers need a minimum of 300mm in front of them for servicing access.

Plasterboard is classed as non-combustible, but you may need strengthening wooden strips added to hang it on.

Thanks, there will be a max of 400mm for servicing access in the front, the airing cupboard is big, but it will be on the side wall. Can you service the boiler sideways? Gas engineer is going to drop the quote tomorrow and I will raise these issues again with him for confirmation.

As long as it is fitted in accordance with the manufs installation instructions which will enshrine the necessary law and BS standards eg BS5440,then all will be well. Installers are required by law to leave with the end user, the appliance installation/maintenance and user literature.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
