Blandford Forum in North Dorset. It was lovely.

I've lived in some of my favourite counties too - London, Dorset and North Yorks are probably my top three that I've actually lived in. Lucky me. :)

Oh, I stayed in a hotel there a couple of times when we couldn't get in to Poole. Can't remember the name but it had a special tiny staircase up the side of the normal one for the candles, with lovely blue and white tiles. Loved it down by the river and there were some great independent shops.

I love being in Poole and also visit Portland whenever I have time.

I don't know the hotel but it sounds appealing!

Oddly, I am trying to remember the High Street in Blandford and once I get past the church, I find I am on the High Street here. Think I need sleep. :D

Portland - is that the very very very windy place?! With a lighthouse?

I think it was the Crown Hotel, and yes Portland is a very windy place with the lighthouse :D I love standing there watching the waves crash against the rocks.

We had a day out there when the kids were tiny. I was holding onto DD, aged maybe six months, for dear life because her tiny weight was stopping me getting blown into the sea!

I now think showroom condition is over-rated. ;)

Whereabouts in Yorkshire did you live? I'm fairly far north, but originally hail from (glances round and drops voice to a whisper) the other side of the Pennines. Love it here though. :)

i lived in Pontefract, and Huddersfield before moving down here.
Before that i was in Dorset

Pontefract - where the cakes come from. :) I wonder if they have those down south? And I've been through Huddersfield a fair few times on the way to Manchester, though I couldn't actually claim to know it.

(As a side track - up here they don't have Lardy Cakes. I have been deprived for nearly twenty years now - *sigh*).

But whereabouts in Dorset were you, LT?

As far as buying beds is concerned, this afternoon hasn't cost us a thing - there was a very nice one in the sale but DS decided against it because when his brother moves out (probably 10 years as things are) he wants to get an identical one so he can make it into a double. I tried to point out that no bed is likely to be still available after a few years, but I don't think he wants to drop the dream so quickly.

It was reduced in the sale, too, and had storage... *sigh*.

I think potentially it's cost us a few pounds, though. It was a furniture shop with a little coffee shop tucked in a corner and a gifts section calling out to be explored. For some reason it's calling my name - when the guys aren't around. ;) They also had fabric offcuts including a glorious orange piece that would make an oversized cushion and cheer the lounge up no end, and rolls of Cath Kidston-type prints that I absolutely want. I can't work that one out - I'm not a Cath Kidston person... am I? No, I'm not. Not all out, anyway... but in moderation... oh yes, in moderation...!

And we have bought tomorrow's food, spending a few pence within budget. :money:

Oh, and the shop with the fabrics had the most repulsive ever lampshades for sale! They were truly horrible! Revolting.

So good I had to take a picture to cheer myself up when I need it!

I am 'collecting' horrible Chrtistmas trees too - there are some great ones if you keep your eyes open!
