At last! The insurance money has arrived in my account! What's more, it got there ahead of the payment for the cooker going out (Now I shall start to worry that the cooker order hasn't gone through, of course!)
Off to shops.hehe... but not going mad, we need dinner (we do not need a bread maker, repeat, we do not need a bread maker...)
(... just yet).Miggy

:j:j:j I love it when money comes in before it goes out, it is just the right way around from an MSE perspective :j:j:j
Glad you have been able to order the cooker you wanted but sorry it is 8 days away.
Just think how proficient you will be at using the Slow Cooker by then :rotfl:

Thanks for the nice messages peeps!
I'm in the middle of a run of 4 nights so haven't a lot to report other than I wombled a few receipts (only counts if I remember to add them to my card) and a £5 off £40 spend voucher from a colleague's newspaper (ditto). Don't worry, I waited till he had put it down before pouncing.
Actually it will only get used if I can organise myself which is going to entail fetching £40 worth of shopping home, ideally tomorrow morning on the way home from work... how likely is that? Well, depends on the weather and whether I can find £40 worth of light-weight stuff that we want and will use and will go in the slow cooker...
I think this might the time to buy meat?
Off to put useful things in my bag for tonight. Last night I made some bread during a very quiet shift. It's one way to keep awake.Miggy

Urgh, I can tell I have now finished that run of nights. However, NSD today, which is good, though I think DH has spent something - but that doesn't count if I didn't ask him to buy anything on my behalf
A new Asda has just opened not far away but I am going to resist it until I have spent that voucher - if I can work out a suitable shopping list, of course, otherwise it defeats the object. Funnily, when I went in to get sausages yesterday (as you can tell, I haven't done the big shop yet), they gave me a £3 off £20spend voucher. It never rains but it pours.
Two days till Cooker Day, but then we have to wait for the electrician to wire it in.
And real November weather! Yesterday was the first frost but since then it's been grey, grey, grey and damp. The family has celebrated by using just about every towel we have and leaving them damply in the laundry (don't know why they can't do the washing?) so I now have them washed and, well, still damp. They will probably be like this till they go musty unless I splash out and put a couple in the drier.Miggy

I completely forgot to show off /confess that I bought two pairs of trainers to replace the pair that split down the side and save me from having to wear the other pair that don't fit very well. £45 spend (from TK M*xx) reduced - if you believe recommended prices, of which I'm increasingly wary - from £180. Really pleased as both are proper exercise trainers so maybe I will sneakily get toned up while mooching, who knows?
Wouldn't it be nice if savings automatically turned into actual cash? (*thinks* £180 paid off mortgage, ahhhh!)
P.S. I live in trainers due to a problem with my feet so I'm doubly delighted as it will do me good health wise too.Miggy

I used my £3 off £20 spend voucher today (not organised enough for the other one). Nice to have stuff in that I can put in the slow cooker in the morning without a frantic dash to the shops! Among other things, some frozen salmon and frozen chicken pieces (both on offer) and a jar of sauce which isn't very MS but is a good way to get flavour when I don't have a hob to hand... two days to go!Miggy

This replacement cooker business is turning into a saga!
We decided to replace the ancient lino and although it took a while to find one we liked (why on a dull November day does any manufacturer think we would want to buy stormy grey?) the shop was very helpful and, hearing that the cooker is expected tomorrow, fitted us in early once we had chosen something. The MS side of it is that I managed to get by with the smallest size even though it required a bit of imagination when looking at the layout.
Tonight's job is moving white goods to give the workmen space in the morning.
We weren't very MS at all really because we treated ourselves to lunch out (the place that charges £8.95 for omelettes) (which I didn't have
) and sat by a real fire under a huge ceiling beam putting the world to rights.
:):) Just the perfect thing to do with a grey afternoon.
DS1 and I are about to move the fridge freezer and this will not be MS either because I will throw some food out, but this is stuff we can't use because I can't slow cook it and there's no more freezer space, or it's things like very old ice lollies that have been in the freezer so long that no one's going to eat them. Shame but I have to be realistic - at least a bit realistic. If its going to give me food poisoning it's not food, and it it's empty calories it isn't worth keeping (says she strictly, wishing she could get back in her smaller jeans!)
Okay I'm off into the fray - talking of which I've been offered an extra shift at the weekend. It should pay for the flooring AND the meal.Miggy

New flooring will freshen up the kitchen, throwing food is OK if nobody will eat it anyway and treating yourself when you know you have the money to cover it is allowed!
Debt busting is all very well but no treats makes life a misery - I think it is all a balancing act. Bit like dieting, you fail if you deprive yourself of all the good things.
Hope you get everything shifted and everything goes to plan tomorrow:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0
