Rejected for RBS Student Credit Card - implication for overdraft?

Hi,

I applied and was approved for an RBS Student Account earlier this week, although there is no overdraft on it because I don't start university for another 2.5 months and they only approve overdrafts when you start university within 2 months.

I just tried applying for a student credit card with them there and was rejected. I presume this is because I have had no credit in the past. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this rejection would have any implications for my chances of getting the interest free overdraft on my student account?

Thanks,
Jack

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

You'll have no problem getting the o/d once you actually start.
That goes for the credit card too.

I agree with Heng Leng youve applied to early.

Once youve started uni youll get an overdraft and a credit card no problem. :D

Hey folks, just a quick update

Got a few letters today from RBS. Opened the first one and it said something along the lines of 'you recently applied for an RBS student credit card and our system shows you already have an application being processed', which I thought was odd. Opened the next envelope and it was a credit agreement for a new student credit card!

I think I know what happened. The day before I was rejected I went and had a look at the application form, and I think I must have accidentally submitted it, so the reason I was rejected the second time was because I had already applied... oops :rotfl:
