wedding insurance?

Hi All

so far i have paid the deposit for the venue, and the registra and the deposit for the cake

but read somewhere (not sure where), about wedding insurance
but don't really understand what it is
surely the contracts i have with companies/people, should be enough?

is everyone having wedding insurance? and how much is it?

thanks :) x

say your venue went bust youd lose your deposit and would not get it back unless years down the line after lengthy court cases the judge ordered them to pay you back but it could be in little amounts until its paid up
if you had insurance you receive a pay out pretty quickly
have a look at the different policies to see what different ones offer, go through someone like money supermarket

And if those companies or people go bust?

Or if the venue burns down? (which happend to a bride who posts here actually!)

Or if your dress gets eaten by the dog?

Or if you get made redundant?

Or if, God forbid, something terrible happened to you, your OH, or a really close family member?

    That's what insurance is for.

thanks- i do get the reasoning behind it- have just done a quick online quote thing- and found one for £19.50-
another silly question- is that monthly?-
coz my wedding is july next year- so if i was paying that monthly until the wedding its £234 which is a lot of money - for hopefully nothing!-
i can see the reasoning behind it though

so is it paid monthly up until the wedding?

    no it shouldnt be monthly
it also covers other things like your cake, dress, shoes, jewellery loads of things really just make sure yours covers everything you want it to and check its terms and conditions VERY carefully, if theres something your not sure of just ask someone who knows what its all about x

One of the best wedding insurers is Ecclesiastical as they pay out and were about the only company to pay out when Wrapit went bust and brides were left without gifts.

With wedding insurance you pay a one off fee - you don't pay in instalments.
