Hey there,
I need to get the stereo out of my car before it gets taken away on saturday.
I have some sony removal keys but just can't work out what I'm meant to do with them!? :o
I've taken the trim off and no idea where to stick the keys.

These are the keys:

I have a Sony Xpold mini disk player and athough the keys on mine a longer I imagine the process is the same or maybe its the photo.

Each key should slide in at the outer sides of the player close to the edges in the centre, there will probably be a little resistance.

Once they are in you need to pull the player itself from the cage, pulling on the keys probably wont work.
Also remove the cables/connector that goes from the player to the cars wiring loom/connector if there is one, remove and keep the cage as well.

    Hope that makes sense/works.

Yes, that makes sense, although I'm not convinced I've got the right keys.

I got them off eBay, just said Sony removal keys, there does seem to be some longer ones for sale aswell, so I'm worried I've got the wrong ones now.. :(

I will give it a go again and see what happens..

    Thanks for the reply :D

I am fairly sure that they are the wrong keys, the keys for xplod receivers are longer than those shown.

Possibly a steel rule, releasing one side at a time.

You may be able to just pull the whole cage out if it hasn't been fitted well.

I used 2 thin flat bladed screw drivers , i just pushed them the slots where the keys went and with a bit of force (not to much) and abit of wiggling i go it out .

    Okay, worth a shot.

Halfords fitted it, so let's hope they didn't fit it well lol.
