Hi,
My neighbour bought Magnum DVD+HDD 2005. Anyone know where he might get a manual in English?
Many Thanks, Bob

Ask in the forums here: http://www.area450.com/news/200501.html

Thanks for the heads up, but I got no response. That forum does not appear to be very active? Last three posts before mine were Aug 17, 31st and Sept 3rd"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Well apart from waiting, there isn't a great deal you can do. Though you could turn 'detective' and start googling the other names of the player which seem to be listed on that site. You never know, one of the vendors may have produced a manual for it. For instance, it seems that ALDI\Medion\Tevion also stocked a version of it. If this is the case email medion\tevion and ask them if they have a manual as hopefully they will have translated theirs from the original, it might be better if you sugested you purchased the unit from them however. Alternatively it looks like you shall have to start reading Italian and French then start googling the other websites.
Not much help I know, but unless you find a better forum where the ins and outs of purchasing this particular player\recorder were discussed. Then your neighbour can either put up with the various niggles, approach the vendor for a refund\user manual or sell it.

Hi ABH,
Great minds think alike, but I got no response from Medion either. The controls on the machine are all in English so you are correct it is probably a.n.other rebranded machine. However there are so many models and they all look the same.
I really think he was rather silly to buy this machine, but have refrained from telling him that :A . I have a English / Spannish translator, so I shall give him a copy of that. As the manual is 50+ A4 pages it will give him something to do when he is not watching telly:o

Have you tried calling their customer services number? As they are terrible at email, but their tech support guys do seem to have a resemblance of a clue about the products they sell. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's in-depth, but it's as good as you are likely to get.The controls on the machine are all in English so you are correct it is probably a.n.other rebranded machine. You're welcome.
For what it's worth, it occurs to me that there maybe a couple of avenues to try. Though they may not pay dividends. One is https://www.avforums.com though they normally focus on the more specialised equipment manufacturers they do have a hd\dvd recording forum (not to be confused with 'HD' High Definition broadcasts of which they also have a forum) iirc.
Also there is news://sci.electronics.repair which is a usenet group, which you can also see here: http://groups.google.com/group/sci.electronics.repair?hl=en similar to a forum in that you post your question and if anyone can be bothered, they replyIf you search for something more generic such as 'ALDI hdd dvd recorder' then you get these results: http://groups.google.com/groups?lnk=hpsg&hl=en&q=ALDI+HDD+recorder and finally, there is also https://www.digitalspy.co.uk which is more fucused towards programming\schedules etc but there is sometimes discussion on various electronic gadgets to aid in the watching of their favourite pasttime.
