Replacement windscreen / Insurance?
Our car failed it's MOT because of a windscreen issue. Our insurance policy says if we deal with Autoglass or Auto 'something else' (can't remember off hand), then we just need to pay the £75 excess.
So, phone Autoglass who took payment of £75 over the phone and asked where the car was so they could come and replace the screen. And that's it. They didn't ask for insurance details so how do they know a) we have that cover and b) how to claim for the rest of their money?

easy to find who your insurer is from your reg, also most major ins companies have tie-ins with autoglass etc they'll also cross ref with the ins company for the balance...
look on the bright side, if they don't follow it up you got a windscreen for £75...pity it wasn't just a small crack, you possibly would have got it repaired for nothing.I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
It was just a small crack but the bloke said if it had failed an MOT because of it, it had to be a replacement.
Pity really because a repair would only have cost us a tenner.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Don't worry about them not getting paid by the insurer.
If they don't get the rest of their money, they have ways and means of getting it out of you!0 -
Lol, honestly I'm not worried. I just wondered how they could get paid with us not supplying any details.Herman - MP for all!0

They wanted to see the documents at the time they fitted the glass for mine, and put the details down on the paperwork. Also with the disclaimer if the insurance didn't pay, I would.0
