When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:D

Hellloooooooooooooooooo everyone - nearly the weekend:T
I don't plan on doing much at all today - just uni work. Nice quiet day! Must get DD1's clothes all ironed for next week - she's off to Germany with school and we're at my sister's at the weekend so won't have time then
Ok, here's my list:
  • daily scratchcard
  • check banking and move TCs to spends account
  • meal from plan tonight - jacket pots and chicken
  • packed lunches for girls to school
  • washing on quickwash and on the line to dry
  • ironing
  • uni work
  • NSD
  • stich electric things off at the wall when not using
  • showers all round not baths
  • hot water only on for a little
Ok, that's all. I paid ff my Co-Op cc yesterday, all £700 of it - so look at my sig, almost debt free:beer: My mission is now to keep spending to a minimum, keep organised and motivated!:T

Have a great day:)
I really need to sort out a new signature!

    Morning all!
Well done Milly on that debt reduction! Hopefully I'll be in your position in December.

Small list today as have had a really busy week:

Keep an eye on eBay lots of watchers let's hope some of them bid! Few bits, why is it that things you think will sell for quite a bit don't and those cheap things seem to go well!
Washing on quick wash dry outside - if rain stays away
Going round friends later for free tea and good company
    Tea using left overs
Investigate places to go using clubcard vouchers

Think that's about it. Have a great day everyone x

Morning all. I'm back in a better frame of mind today so here goes!
    So far I have:
    • done 2x HC overnight on cheap rate electricity
    • sent half a dozen eggs to work with DS3 for a customer
    • made lunch to take to work
    • checked banking - still waiting for final PPI payment
    I also intend to:
    • check for surveys
    • go to new supermarket opening today to look for offers
    • if no offers, have an NSD
    • have meals from meal plan
    • pay this month's rent and council tax
    • enjoy my day at work - it's one of my accounts days rather than the admin I hate!
Not much really, but enough for a Thursday :)

Thanks for the lovely hellos yesterday

    Today

Drive into work carefully - I'm keeping a note of my miles/petrol this month as we're now at the house all the time - and the petrol expense is bound to be a high one each month but at the moment its an unknown.
Same for the electricity here - right now its unknown - and whilst the kids are here I need the water on every night - but when they aren't I might just switch it off
    Do work expenses
    Made OH HM lunch
    Taken stuff into work yesterday
    Need to get paper today
Must organise house - its a tip.
Look into drying the grass in the garden for hay - its needing strimmed now so waste not want not - the chickens will use it for bedding later in the year.
Move some plants to a wind free spot
    *Find a wind free spot!*
Enquire at work about some old pallets for making some shelter
    Charge phone at work
    Keep up with diaries etc
Move some more money to CC
Freeze some of the extra pasta
    Feed hens
Walk doggie and OH later :)
Think more about TV for the winter - we're watching a few bits from iplayer - but aside that there is no tv.
Do some change of address stuff
Change the loo seats for the lovely ones we bought - to save ourselves slipping off the seats!

Spoke to kids yesterday so won't speak to them for a few days - must phone BT and organise free forgien calls again - phoning France is not cheap unless you've a package.

    Morning happy campers!
WELL DONE MILLY ON DEBT BUSTING!

Not been on at all this week due to having family down, have updated my diary a little bit though...
I have the week off work and we have been sight seeing around salisbury etc

    My list for today:-
    - Go out in a bit to see some Salisbury sights, though it's raining - boo!
    - Turn things off at the wall when we go out in a bit.
    - Drop car off at ex's house so he can get furniture from bargain second hand work warehouse, he's MSE now too! This saves me parking money in town.
    - Take family around shops, DSSister to get her hair cut and DD to have hers done too
    - DB4 to go to game shop
    - Look for top today to wear on Saturday night
    - Try on skirt found in bros garage to see if it still fits
    - Have paid another £200 off egg card this morning and cleared Cap1 again.

Not much MSE going on today but thought I'd say hello anyway!!! Right had better make sure DSSister and DD are getting dressed, leaving in an hour!
    Jx
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

    Well done Milly!!

    That's so brill, you're nearly there! :j

I am feeling like a bit of a DFW failure this morning, as I overspent last night when I was out with a friend....why is it when you're having a few [STRIKE]bottles [/STRIKE]glasses of wine all your good DFW intentions fly out the window?? One of life's great mysteries!

Admittedly it was a nice cheap and cheerful place and I only spent £20....but I had budgeted for less :( Sorry to moan, just annoyed with myself.

    ANYWAY

Onwards and upwards, I will take it as a kick up the you-know-where to rack up the NSDs until my money withdrawing day (next Tues) - I don't have much left but I CAN DO IT!! So today:
    • NSD!!
    • Bringing lunch from home
    • Using work travelcard as I have lots of meetings so need to use my own
    • Pay off some more on my credit card (this is not out of my weekly money - I have money allocated for this already)
    • Finish making my friend's birthday card
That's all I can think of for now.....

    Jo :(
    LBM 04/05/10 :T DEBT FREE 30/07/10 :j I made it!
CHALLENGES: 0 bought lunches June or July :)
Aug SoL: 15/21 June NSDs: 11/14 July NSDs 12/11 :j Aug NSDs: 5/12 Savings target: £500/5000

    *[STRIKE]use free parking in town[/STRIKE]

    Morning everyone,

Well done Milly - I honestly can't see the time when I'll be debt free so I'm really impressed with those that have got there/are getting there :)

Wee question - I know that DD / DS means kids but not sure what they stand for... can anyone answer?

    My list for today: -
    • pay day today so taking out cash to pay for milk fund etc
    • take out cash for next 4 weeks for OH to spend over holidays for wee boy (going to have a set amount in an envelope per week), fingers crossed this stops overspending :)
    • check for surveys
    • set up spend spreadsheet for this pay
    • check on-line banking
    • brought lunch to work
    • going for run after work
Think that's it - last day today then I'm off for 2 weeks, yeh :T
just days here and there so hoping for good weather... have a good day everyone x
