neighbour has half killed my clementis

I have a well established Clematis montana var. rubens 'Pink Perfection' climbing on the fence between my neighbour and I, it's grown over 30ft and it's my pride and joy!!
Over the past few weeks I have noticed it looking sickly, wilting and partially dead and it's getting worse, to my horror I have discovered my neighbour has creosoted her side of the fence:mad::mad::mad::mad:
The poor thing looks worse everyday now and I have the smallest bit of green left on near the root of the plant. Has anyone got any ideas on what to do to help my pride and joy recover and try and save the bit I have left
Thanks
GUTTED!!:mad::mad:

    I doubt weather the "Creosote" was to blame as i assume its only on her side, also "Creosote" is banned now, unless she had an old can. More likely to be "Clematis Wilt"(Google this for help) probably to late to help this plant by the sound of it.

    Sorry it was not creosote it was wood stainer what you paint fences with, she painted the fence when it was about to bloom and its died off on both sides of the fence, there is about a foot of live plant left.....any suggestions as to how I can save my pride and joy :(

    Cut it back to about half and keep watered well. Montana is as tough as old boots and it will recover. You may need to cut more later, but I'd see what happens first.

    It may not be wilt, because this variety isn't very susceptible, but in any event it's not usually fatal. Few fence preservers on the market are spirit based now, so don't normally give this amount of trouble. All the best ones are though!

    I feel your pain!!! :( i have a massive clematis Armandii, that I've grown for over 6 years on and over the fence between me and one of my neighbours, it was absolutely gorgeous, lovely cream flowers and evergreen leaves all year round, until my stupid :mad: neighbour decided he didn't like it growing on his side and instead of just cutting it back, he's ripped/hacked and god knows what else he's done to it and threw it all back over my side!! :mad::mad: It's now a big mass of brown leaves and stem :mad:
    After giving him a mouthful :o I have now been told that he was legally entitled to throw it back over my side as it belongs to me!! I said surely that doesn't give him the right to hack it to death tho???If he'd told me I'd have cut it back myself!!
    I've took quite a few cuttings off it so am hoping they survive and I'll plant them all back in the same place ;)
    I've cut it right back to the main stem and fingers crossed it'll grow back.
