For anyone interested, I received my cheque about 3 weeks ago.
I wrote directly to Capita (the registrars) telling them that I believed I was entitled to some free shares when the company floated but have not received them. I didn't mention the letter from Keysearch.
They wrote back to me requesting my previous addresses and also £25 admin charge for investigating the claim. They also said that I should allow 28 days for them to investigate, and should I receive any letters from Keysearch that I should ignore them as they are already dealing with it.
I duly sent them the form and the cheque.
About 3 weeks later they sent a letter saying that the results of their investigation show that I was entitled to the proceeds of 250 shares and gave me a certificate of entitlement. So I sent this off, and the cheque arrived a week later. Cha-ching!
Also, it turns out that my girlfriends father also received one of these Keysearch letters a couple of weeks before I got mine. Unfortunately he believed that there was no way round coughing up the 10% and replied to them. As of yet though they still haven't got back to him. So he's waited longer and will get less money.
Good luck to everyone else claiming.0 -
I have a longstanding Alliance and Leicester current account, which was originally with Girobank (takes you back, doesn't it?).
I assume as I was with Girobank that, even though A&L took the operation over, I would not have been eligible for shares.
Can anyone remember?"Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm" (Sir Winston Churchill)0 -
The Keysearch scoundrels are charging my Dad 15% + VAT, which is £427 off the net proceeds of his entitlement resulting from the transfer of some his shares.
He's signed and returned a form in which the 15% fees are mentioned and received a cheque with the fees deducted, but he hasn't cashed it yet.
Is it too late at this stage to return the cheque and go through the same process with the registrars to save on the fees?0
