Building Over Private Sewer/Drain

We are currently looking at a 3 bed property with ample room to extend, if we knock down the attached garage(several neighbours have done this). Although searches threw nothing up, we did further research ourselves, and discovered that there is a drain (about 32cm diameter I think) which runs under the current garage and would run under the extension. This is a surface water drain, roofs, road etc. Does anyone have experience of building over a sewer/drain such as this. This is definately not adopted by the water co. which is why it didn't come up on searches. My next move will be local authority, if they haven't all been made redundant, but just thought I would see what personal experience was on here. Thanks in advance.

I built over my sewage / waste pipe with a rear extension. The waste came across the rear of the houses and along the back linking into each stack.

It's pretty straightforward and just needs building regs to check it.

We just put the footings in under it and then bridged over it with concrete lintels. Got building regs to pass it, job done.

it shouldn't be a problem at all if it is a private drainage run, as long as you don't cover up any man holes or rodding eyes it's straight forward. (even if you do it just means you would have to put a new manhole/re in the run)
i have a guide for doing conservatory extensions (in scotland) which is downloadable, has this exact detail in it. you can get it from the sbsa website, not sure if there is anything similar in by technical standards in england

as above. normally you would bridge over them with concrete (lintels).
but you could also take the runoff water to a new soakaway in the garden.
    Get some gorm.
