PPi Land of Leather/Creation consumer finance

Hi
I purchased a suite from Land of Leather in Jan 06 and was sold the ppi I wasn't bothered too much at the time as I planned to pay it off within the 12 months interest free term however, creation consumer fiance said they received my cheque 1 day late!! to cut a very long (3 years) court case short I lost and had to pay all the interest including the ppi which I have paid in full. I am now wondering if I can claim the ppi back but I am unsure who to claim from as Land of Leather are no longer trading as it has been paid to Creation can I claim it back from them.
I have read that Land of Leather had been fined because it's sales people were not fully trained to sell ppi.

I would really apprecaite any help in directing me or other peoples experience of claiming ppi from Creation Consumer Finance now known as Open & Direct or the other way round not too sure.
Thanks

    Hi there

Sorry to hear of your issues.

You can if you were mis sold the ppi, make a reclaim I believe through the Financial compensation scheme (FSCS) I think the land of leather are listed with them, and if it was the land of leather who set this policy up for you, it would be these to pursue but through the FSCS.

So what you do is contact the FSCS, make sure they are listed and tell them you have a ppi reclaim to make, they will then arrange to send you a form via post or email.
    FSCS here:
    http://www.fscs.org.uk/contact-us/

Give them a call at your earliest convenience.

Good luck and please keep us posted.;)

    Hi,

My wife bought a suite from the Land of Leather through a finance agreement with Open and Direct. She was rushed through the filling in of the Credit Agreement Form and was told to sign here and here with an x!! Anyway, I am wanting to claim back the PPI that we have paid, and I'm not sure where to send the FSA PPI consumer questionaire to, as I think that Open and Direct are now Creation Finance.

Any help would be appreciated :T

    Hi Bebell,
Really sorry to hear of your troubles. Creation also told me that they received my cheque late, which I only found out after it appearing on my credit report that I am a "delinquent" payer! It has now affected my credit file, and I was contemplating also taking them to court, however after reading your post I'm really concerned. Without wanting to pry to much, what did you do and how was the verdict delivered? Did the "non-payment" affect your credit? And do you think I need to just pay the £1000 that they claim I owe them due to interest clicking in?! :( Thanks very much for your help and good luck with your PPI reclaim!
  • Hi we did exactly what you did but missed the payment by 2 days ,we had no intention of taking out a loan with creation we had plenty of money but land of leather sales person talked my partner in to the interest free option and rushed the paper work and we did not check what was on it and just waited for the suite to arrive ,next 2 days late paying the £1700 but it was fully paid and then our world turned in to hell ! This was 9 years ago there has been county court judgements s o black listed ,we have never payed anymore they have now put the the interest and court fees on to the land registar so we can't sell unless we pay them up first ,the sum we so call owe them is now over £3000 , and just recently a ppi company who were looking into loans we had taken over the years came up with a ppi with creation that land of leather sales person (crook) had entered us into and we did not even know we had payed £270 for a ppi on a loan we didn't want or need and the salesman said keep it in your bank for a year get the interest , it's very carefully worked out with land of leather sales and creation ,rush it through don't remind customers of payment due dates and the rest is history , they have made sure that everything they have done is legal but they have also done as little as they can to treat people in a fair way we were stupid and our loss should be everyone's gain do not deal with these companies land of leather has gone but creation are still making millions on peoples suffering ,hope this helps , oh creation have given our ppi company instructions that they will take off the £270 ppi money if we pay the balance of the debt ,I would sooner eat a box of drawing pins , keep away from creation
