Planting ideas needed!

Hi All

So here I am with a typical postage stamp size garden (new build house). I have an area 2metres by 5metres that I want to have a border in. Ive done the grass/decking etc.

Im really trying to keep the garden as "contemporary" as possible - but would very much welcome ideas for some "contemporary" plants.

Its a fairly sunny spot in clay soil. Im looking for a mixture of tall plants (bamboo maybe?) to smaller "spikey" grasses. As I say its a smallish area so every plant has to be worthy of its place. I would prefer evergreens or something with colour all year round. Sibiricia was another idea - but thats as far as I've got!

As I say I would welcome all your ideas!
