Diesel filter help!
Hi,
Could do with some advice/step by step on how to sort this problem...
My 1988 VW 1.6 TD diesel transporter (camper conversion) has recently had a new fuel filter fitted like this one:
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Transporter_1.6_1988/p/Car-Parts/Service-Parts/Regular-Service/Fuel-Filters/?503440140&1&e1de66214f33fc162dac6a6e98ffb44c90b49986&FUEF
The starts fine, and drive ok, but occassionally there is a juddering although fuel inst getting through.
I have looked at the fuel pipe that goes from the filter to the engine, and can see two little air bubbles ... could these be the issue?
How do I get the air out?
There is a bleed screw on the filter (a hex nut) do I twist this and let air out until diesel flows? engine started??
Any advice for a mechanical novice would be a great help!

if theres a bleed screw on the top of the filter then try loosening this off a little.
if fault still occurs, with engine running crack all injector pipes, this will spray out diesel,so best have an old rag handy to cover the spray.this will get rid of any air aswell.
but if fault continues to happen then you should start looking for loose hoses where the system might be drawing air....work permit granted!0
