Just had a bumper crop from a set of poundland seed potatoes:j
Well worth the money (£1doh) with a big garden bag from there also. Put them into this with the compost and must have got a right few pounds worth of lovely potatoes.
Will certainly be trying them again next year:D

I've used Poundland seed potatoes the last couple of years and had great results too. Missed them this year and bought some from Homebase that were reduced for quick sale, will be interesting to see how they compare.

Thanks ever so much for this post.

On my husbands orders I spent most of yesterday treking round the garden centres and gardening sections in shops and couldn't find any anywhere.

I ended up ordering them on ebay!

Haven't got a poundland near me but will definatley bear them in mind for the future as i didn't know they did gardening stuff.

Bravo, i have got poundland taties too, just flowering, how long did you leave them after flowering before you harvested, i'vd had a fumble in the bags and can't feel any potatoes yet! Also not sure how much they need watering, i'm doing it everyday but i am worried i am drowning them lol!!

I've had several lots of potatoes from various cheapie shops, with varying degrees of success.
My resolution for next year is to label the pots before I start moving them round as I have no idea which variety the good ones are and where I bought them from. :o

I have to say the discount stores have been great for success this year. Aldi and Lidl's seeds have been brilliant for the whole 29p a packet LOL I don't think I could pay garden centre prices....and I almost chocked when I saw the price of a packet of seeds there!

Long may the GYO craze continue as it's great to get the seeds at a lower price. It gives me more money to spend on special or unusual stuff!

I bought my brother those poundland potatoes but I'm not sure how he has done with it....!

I think potatoes in bags do need a lot of water so don't worry about drowning them - I seem to be constantly watering mine!

It was roughly 2 to 3 weeks after flowering that I lifted them.Got various sizes but majority were of a good size, as for watering I gave them a good soaking 2/3 times a week but like other posters say I dont think they can get enough water with them being in bags.
